Care Webinar – The Digital Switchover
By 2027, the UK will transition fully to an all-IP network, replacing traditional analogue phone lines with Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). This means all services relying on landlines—including telephony, alarms, telecare systems, EPOS machines, and CCTV—must migrate to digital platforms to avoid disruptions. Care homes will need to ensure they have a suitable internet connection for their requirements, alongside potential new equipment to boost Wi-Fi for example.
If you have other systems connected to your phone line, such as intruder and lift alarms, telecare systems, Emergency Red Phones. Epos machines, CCTV, or even some half-hourly electricity meters, then they’ll stop working too.
